Breakfast Time
Patchie knows when the people breakfast is ready. She comes and jumps up on a stool and waits. She has had her breakfast long ago so I wonder why she does this. When we ask her to please jump down, she does and is off to do cat things... like a nap!

Slip Sliding Away
Lummy is slowing sliding off the back of the couch. He is sound asleep. He will land on the cushion so I will leave him alone. If he were going to fall off the back onto the floor, I would wake him up.
Sweet dreams sweet boy!

Callie Up High
Somehow at this time in our life we have ended up with several cats. Now, we didn't plan it...it just happened. They all needed homes. So, I have been able to study cat personalities. They are all so different, just like us people, I guess! Katie. the black one, insists on going outside. I've told her all about the coyotes, bears and mountain lions out there. Not to even mention the raccoons and skunks! But she insists...and so we reluctantly let her go sometimes. Lumpkin is a scaredy cat, Patches is a cuddle bug and Callie, the calico, is the cat that likes to be up high!
This cat is wacky!!! She find the most unlikely places to go. I've been collecting pictures of her.

Ready to Eat?
Patches is waiting...just waiting for breakfast. She usually sits on the empty stool beside us while we eat breakfast, but today she beat us sitting down. I asked her to move over and she did! She is a perfect furkid.

One Tough Manicure
It is time to trim Johnny's hooves again. They need attention every 6 to 8 weeks. I have learned to do it my self just because it is so much easier than scheduling and waiting for a farrier to show up.
The bad news is it is hard on the back! In the summer I let Johnny stand in the running water for a while. This softens up his hooves and makes the job much easier. During the winter if we have had any rain this isn't necessary as the foot get moisture from the ground.
The tools I use are the hoof pick, a hoof knife, a nipper and a rasp.

Once back in the barn Johnny immediately smells the fresh hay that Hubs went to get while I was finishing up the trim. He knows it is just on the other side and he wants some!

A Rainbow of Chickens
These happy chickens were all over the garden scraps we took to a friend. What a flock of interesting chickens. Every color and every size. They free range all over the yard. The one in the wheelbarrow was...King of the mountain!

What a Face
We visited a friend today and took his pigs some veggies from the garden. They are so cute and only about eight weeks old. Oh, what a face! I think I would have named her Charlotte...remember the book? However, our friend decided on Sarah P!

Clean Patsy
Patsy was so dirty and now she is clean. She went down to the garden and dug in the WET dirt! She likes her bath now. And I really like...do I dare say it...I like the Sham-Wow. It dries her off in a flash.

Homeless Patchie Cat?
No way, but Patchie will never let a perfectly good box go unused. She was outside on her rope and we were unpacking from our Costco trip. I tossed the empty boxes out the laundry room door and Patchie immediately made it a game. She is a funny, playful cat and has a home with us for life...even if she likes to sit in cardboard boxes.

One BIG Dog
This big dog was wondering down Callender Road as we were coming home today. His head was even with the car window and although he seemed very friendly, I didn't stick my hand out there. I don't know were he came from or where he went. I don't even want to think about buying kibble for him!

"Does This Make Me Look Girly?"
It was big time grooming day for Johnny the miniature horse. First I trimmed his hooves and got them all four in good shape. He is a pretty good boy, especially if alfalfa hay is involved. I know, I know, I shouldn't reward bad behaviour, but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do to get the job done! I cut his bridle path and combed out his mane and tail. His tail was so long it was dragging on the ground and was full of grass so I decided to try the braid. I do trim it but I just was not quite ready to cut it. He was very patient but I swear I hear him say, "Does this make me look girly?"
